New Dayton Arts Alliance Unites Orchestra, Opera and Ballet
Three Dayton performing arts organizations are banding together and weathering the economic storm under a single new umbrella, according to the Dayton Daily News.
The Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, Dayton Ballet and Dayton Opera have joined forces under the newly created Dayton Performing Arts Alliance. The non-profit organization began operations July 1 with the aims of solidifying the professional administration of all three member performing arts groups and forging innovative collaborations among them. Jeremy Trahan, chair of the Performing Arts Alliance’s board, told the Dayton Daily News that the organization is the only one of its kind.
Diminishing financial resources in recent years have been cited as a factor in combining the Dayton orchestra, opera and ballet into the Alliance, which has received substantial support from donors and foundations.
