Helping Hands Center

Helping Hands Center for Special Needs is a non-profit organization in Clintonville that serves the educational and therapeutic needs of children with autism and other developmental disabilities. And the instructors there believe strongly that the Arts can be a valuable teaching tool. Many autistic children have food aversions and sensitivities, making mealtime a challenge for parents. Artist Eric Marlow, who served this spring as an artist-in-residence at Helping Hands, worked with speech and occupational therapists to create an arts-based curriculum focused on food and nutrition.
