COLUMBUS, OHIO, MAY 7, 2013 – In recognition of her unwavering support of classical music in central Ohio, Anne Melvin now has the Classical 101 broadcast studio bearing her name.

Melvin, a Bexley resident, has been an ardent supporter and contributor to Classical 101 for many years. Her passion for music began in childhood, was nurtured through post-graduate studies at Capital University, and applied when she volunteered and served as music librarian for WOSU in the ’80s.

The dedication of ‘The Anne Melvin Classical Music Studio’ took place in a ceremony at WOSU Public Media on April 30, with Dr. E. Gordon Gee, President of The Ohio State University, and Thomas Rieland, General Manager of WOSU Public Media, delivering an on-air tribute with Mrs. Melvin after a plaque was revealed.

“Anne’s longtime advocacy and support of the arts in central Ohio is legendary. Her support of WOSU’s classical music radio network is given out of her passion and love of music and we thought it was the perfect time to honor her publicly,” remarks Rieland.

Melvin, recounting her eight years working at the radio station said that “every day was different and a joy.”

Classical 101, at 101.1 FM, is the only all-day classical music radio station in Central Ohio and is the hub of a five-station network of classical stations across Ohio. Listeners can also tune in to the classical music service at WOSU HD-2 on 89.7 FM and through the online stream at wosu.org. WOSU Public Media is a community-supported, noncommercial network of public radio and television stations.
